Travel_Alona Beach

This is just one of the many white-sand beaches Panglao island boasted which is just a few minutes away from Dumaluan Beach.

Unlike Dumaluan, Alona Beach has a short shoreline measuring only of a 1.5-kilometer stretch of white powdery sand being bordered by two rock walls in each end. You could jog the entire shoreline for only 15 minutes and walk for 20 minutes from end to end. You will indeed fall in love walking barefoot the entire stretch of white powdery sand while enjoying how the water combined with the powdery sand touches your skin and at the same time having a grand view of the ocean in front of you any time of the day.

How amazing is that??

The beach was nameless back in the '70s, until Alona Alegre a Filipino actress shoot a movie on the shoreline of this beach. Alona Alegre is the daughter of comedian-actor Lou Salvador and LVN actress Inday Jalandoni. She was the younger sister of fellow actor Lou Salvador Jr. and the older sister of Phillip Salvador. She was friendly and always put a smile on the locals that captivated their hearts by her charm. With such a lovely attitude and behavior her name, Alona leaves a mark to the locals of the place that even after filming ended locals still remembered the place as "the beach where Alona shoot her feature film" (Yung pinag-shootingan ni Alona). As time passed by and to make the name short they named it Alona Beach, thus it is what we called nowadays.

Few meters from the shoreline of Alona beach are bar and restos for locals and tourists alike. The nightlife here is alive yet not as wild and noisy as that of Boracay. Restos offers different cuisines from Italian, American, French, Swiss and of course or local delicacies.

There are also a lot of accommodations along the shoreline that offers sea view and will not disappoint. From 5 stars to low budget accommodations all available in Alona beach.

When Boracay in Aklan temporarily closed for rehabilitation this is one of the beaches in Panglao where tourists flocked for summer vacay. Indeed the place is not that crowded and commercialized.

Let me share you some of my captured moments in video and in my camera ๐Ÿ˜Š
