Travel_Loboc Wildlife & Nature Park

This is another spot here in Bohol that you might want to visit. I am not recommending it though, however, if you are- you might want to check this place.

I am actually not a fan of a zoo cause I felt that these animals should not be there locked in four corners of a small cage and sadly without any companion.

I actually loved the nature walk and the Tarsier. It was my dream to see one in person aside from the pictures I saw in print and on the screen. And thank goodness it does not disappoint. We did saw at least four and I took a lot of pictures of them.

This place caters to different animals locally and others are imported from other countries. Of course, my daughters were fascinated and enjoyed the tour that we have here. kudos to our tour guide inside this place as he narrates well and gives life to the tour, love his humor.

Let me share some of the photos that I took.

Entrance Fee: Php 150.00

Did you know?
-The name Tarsier was taken from its extremely long Tarsus bone. Its hind limbs are twice as long as its body.
-Their 3rd finger has the same length as their upper arm.

-Tarsiers are amazing jumpers able to jump 4o times more than it's own weight.
-Young Tarsiers are born furred and with open eyes. They can climb within a day of birth.

-Tarsiers can rotate their head 180 to compensate for their immovable eyeballs.
-the 2nd and 3rd toes of their hind limbs bear claws instead of nails used for grooming.

-Tarsiers exhibit the slowest fetal growth rates of any mammal taking 6 months to reach a birth weight of 23 grams.
-Scientist differentiates tarsier species through their song and singing style. Tarsier does sing in high pitched voice.

Can you spot where the Tarsier on this picture?

Travel_Baclayon Church

We made a quick visit to this historical site of Bohol and we are educated on how old this church is, withstand the test of time.

Captivated how the altar was adorned and lighted a mass is being held when we arrived in the place. It was almost 6 PM when we reached this church and the museum is already closed and left us not much to do but to admire the beauty of the old church wall.

The museum entrance fee is Php 50.00 while there is no church fee. I was able to snap some photos and will share them on this page.

Your Bohol trip will not be complete without a visit in this place as this holds the early Christian faith here in Bohol and how it spread in the entire Philippines. Known as the 2nd oldest church established in the Philippines the church walls itself has a lot of stories to tell.

La Purisima Concepcion de la Virgen Maria Parish Church (also The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary Parish Church), commonly known as Baclayon Church, is a Roman Catholic Church in the municipality of Baclayon, Bohol, the Philippines within the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tagbilaran. Baclayon was founded by the Jesuit priest Juan de Torres and Gabriel Sánchez in 1596 and became the oldest Christian settlement in Bohol. It was elevated as a parish in 1717 and the present coral stone church was completed in 1737. The Augustinian Recollects succeeded the Jesuits in 1768 and heavily renovated the church since then.- Wikipedia

Bell tower of Baclayon Church / Watchtower
The quadrangular watchtower, which was also the church's bell tower, was left unfinished by the Jesuits when they were expelled out of the country.[11] The Augustinian Recollects, who succeeded the Jesuits, completed the watchtower.[1][11] It is used to be a detached structure from the church and was connected after the addition of the portico. Made of coral stones, it also has a bas relief of Saint Andrew with an inscription of the date the tower was finished during Father San Andrés de la Santísima Trinidad's administration, May 20, 1777. It still has the original six out of the nine bells from 1880 to 1894 during Father Cabañas' terms.[11] The seventh bell (1886) is in the church museum while the eight bells (1872) are given to the newly founded parish of Corella. - Wikipedia

Church walls were built from coral stones and millions of egg whites that make the stones bonded together.

The recently renovated altar is beautifully adorned of  lovely chandelier

I am fascinated by the ceiling murals of this church.

That checkered  tiled chessboard floor complements the ceiling

Travel_Loboc River Cruise

Your Bohol Tour will not be complete if you will not experience cruising Loboc River while having a buffet lunch.

The cruise started in the bank of the Loay bridge. There is no specific time, each boat leaves when the boat fills up.

Cruising time is short yet enjoyable as it treks along the Loboc River with pretty sceneries. We made a stop in the middle of the cruise to one of those open platform nipa huts just to be entertained by locals of their native songs and dance. I think this is really nice since they are promoting Filipino culture to local and foreign travelers.
