Maty's Tapsilog

Maty's Tapsilog or Tapsilogan has been a name long to remember. When you mentioned let's go to Don Galo, Parañaque of course the place rings a bell- it is the home of Maty's Tapsilogan.

I used to eat in this place ages ago. I can say that I indeed grew up in this place and of course been a witness to how delicious, tasty, yummy, and incomparable their beef tapa is. Let's not forget to mentioned their barbeque as well. Beef Tapa and Pork Barbeques are my fave viand together with their sinangag. Up to this time, I still come back but the joy that I have before was not the same anymore.

Over time, a lot of competitors rose in the same field offering the same menu and being a food fan- I tried all of those to look for the same taste that Maty's Tapa had previously. And indeed, Maty's Tapa already lost in the game. Now, it saddened me to look at their Tapa and Barbeque being served at our table. The joy and the excitement I had previously are no longer there. It lacks food presentation, it loses its appeal or maybe I am expecting too much now since my eyes and taste buds traveled so many places- see many food porn and taste them to check if their taste goes with the appearance.

It's heartbreaking to take photos of their food, as you know it doesn't have any appeal to me. The beef tapa and barbeque do not have the taste that has been expected from them. The owner needs to re-check their infamous tapa and barbeque or perhaps needs to go back to their old recipe. And one last thing, they do not serve sabaw anymore.

LIKES: food comes in cheap

DISLIKES: food presentation is very poor, the barbeque was salty well, in fact, it should be sweet and it looks like it has been cooked for a long time, tapa tasted like any ordinary fried beef, the ambiance-un-kept, there are pieces of rice in the floor-chairs and table edges, un-ventilated place it really makes it uncomfy eating in here- I saw several busted electric fans need to be repaired, food served longer from your expected serving time, they do not serve sabaw anymore.

Recovery Foods

Just recently, I and my buddy Olah went out on a graveyard morning date here in Alabang. It was not long ago when Alabang is a barren field full of tall grasses, trees, and no nightlife can be found.

However as time passed by hotels, office buildings, and condominiums started sprouting in this side of the metro.

So, just only last year I got so blessed to be employed in a company that has an extension office here in Alabang. I choose to be assigned in Alabang and be in Makati once every week.

I am indeed so amazed how the area has been changed over the years and good thing I might have enjoyed nightlife down south.

So, Olah and I roamed around looking for a place where we could hang out and of course, dine while catching up with our lives and we found this food hub Recovery Foods appealing amongst the others.

Their menu selections were unique and very comprehensive.

We ordered the following:
Raumen    Php 240.00
  - Ramen Noodles, RF's peanut-based broth, with mild spice

SST    Regular Php 180.00 / Full RF Php 280.00
  - Spicy Sweet Tuyo, scrambled egg, or fried rice

Tapa De Morning Regular Php 180.00 / Full RF Php 260.00
  - Homemade Tapa, scrambled or fried egg, Ensalada, rice

Tuna Melt Sandwich Php 155.00

Upgrade to Brown rice Php 55.00

And for our drinks
House Blend Iced Tea
  - By Glass Php 49.00 / Bottomless Php 65.00
We did go for the bottomless

I also ordered a hot green tea for Php 60.00

Not bad for our graveyard moring date lah! my reviews are below and hope it would help some of you who haven't tried Recovery Foods yet😉.

This food hub is located at the back of Molito Mall and opened 24/7.

Very accessible I may say and  I don't like the combination of brown rice and tuyo is not pleasing.

This food hub also has its own goodies for you to take home like bottled tuyo, dillis, tinapa some sweets as well.

LIKES: Open 24hours, menu prices were competitive, the tuyo and brown rice combination are not yummy though healthy, Free WIFI just ask for a password to the server or counter, well lighted-though not well ventilated as they already closed the airconditioned upstairs.

DISLIKES: 2nd floor was closed on our visit, our food orders were not delivered all together, need to advise to refill our bottomless iced tea, the parking lot would be scarce during peak hours or days such as dinner/weekends.

Overall, I give this 3 Stars!! and 4 spoons!!!

Keep it up, I hope on my next visit I could give you 5 stars and 5 spoons.

Halo-Halo or Halohalo

It's because the summer season is already here to stay and going out could be expensive-, will cause you sunburned skin and migraine why not stay inside and enjoy Halo-halo instead?

By the way, Halo-Halo is a Filipino delicacy/dessert enjoyed way back then when ice was introduced to Manila. Its ingredients were mixtures of fruits boiled into water and sugar like langka, kaong, sweet beans sometimes they use sweet red beans, sweet potatoes, and many others. Milk and shaved ice make it extra special that makes me shiver after enjoying a full bowl of it 😁😀😁 he he he.

In other regions, Halo-halo varies its ingredients on whatever fruits available in season. Some put avocado, pinipig, gulaman, leche flan, ube or even ice cream. However different in fruit ingredients as long as there is milk and ice still is- best for me.

I also tasted a similar dessert-like halo-halo/haluhalo in Malaysia when I stayed there. They called it Ais kacang (Ice Katchang). Normally it is only shaved ice, milk, and red beans however ingredients also change from place to place, and as time goes by perhaps due to new generations that look for a different taste. I indeed like as well the Korean version of our halo-halo they called it Patbingsu.

The normal Patbingsu only has 3 ingredients such as shaved ice, milk, and red bean paste, and yet as time goes on it also changes. The Patbingsu that I tasted from Angel n Kiss Korean Bakery got a lot of ingredients- peanuts, ice cream even cheesecake on it. The ingredients surprised me 😅, yet our very own halo-halo/halo-halo still the best for me and enjoyed by the many😊😊

Harbour Square

I kept coming back to this place over and over again.

Not long ago I was here doing the same thing that I am doing today.
Admiring the sun setting down on its place.
I will just sit quietly and calmly, will think nothing but praising GOD on his creation.

Today, I am here to cry.
I did this even before where I felt I need a place where I could freely cry.
Cry all my hurts and pain, cry till I have no more tears to shed, cry until the sun fully rested on its place and darkness totally covered the place.

Yet, though problems will always come the LORD never cease to love, to give hope, and to bless...

Thank you, Lord, for another mark in my life's journey.

Harbour Square is so lovely this day.
Seeing the stillness of the waters gives me peace.
Those colors only GOD could paint the sky with such beauty- it mesmerized my soul.

Countless times I visited this place alone and now my daughters accompanied me enjoying the wonders of the setting sun in Harbour Square.

My Amour de ma vie Blog

Today, I am taking down my "Another Part of Me" blog site- My Amour de ma vie blog.

I made this to hold my family updates however over the years,
I learned that not all can be shared on social media.
That not all can understand and will understand and will know exactly how you feel about something or anything.

I will surely miss looking on those pages, and I have decided to transfer it here on the same date that I have posted it way back then.
