Little History
Blood Compact Between Sikatuna and Legaspi
About the middle of March 1565 Captain General Miguel Lopez de Legaspi's fleet anchored along this shore.
Shortly thereafter, Legaspi manifesting trust and confidence in the islanders, entered into a blood compact with Datu Sikatuna. For the purpose of insuring friendly relationships between the Spaniards and the natives.
A few drops of blood drawn from a small incision in the arm of each the two chiefs were placed in separate cups containing wine, and in the presence of the followers of both each drank the wine containing the other. Thus, during this period the colonization, a bond was sealed in accordance with native practice, the very 1st treaty of friendship and alliance between Spaniards and Filipinos.

This is a historical piece of history that should not be forgotten. Quite sad seeing that monument was so small added to that is the colorful background which does not add up to the monument.
I liked the old monument bare as it was before and the only background is the sky that meets the sea gives it a more dramatic scene. Not really okay seeing this historical monument allowed construction of a hotel with modern features. I think it would be okay if the hotel has been built in classic Pinoy Pre-hispanic features like those of in Vigan and in Manila to jibe with the monument beside it.
