Travel_Alona Beach

This is just one of the many white-sand beaches Panglao island boasted which is just a few minutes away from Dumaluan Beach.

Unlike Dumaluan, Alona Beach has a short shoreline measuring only of a 1.5-kilometer stretch of white powdery sand being bordered by two rock walls in each end. You could jog the entire shoreline for only 15 minutes and walk for 20 minutes from end to end. You will indeed fall in love walking barefoot the entire stretch of white powdery sand while enjoying how the water combined with the powdery sand touches your skin and at the same time having a grand view of the ocean in front of you any time of the day.

How amazing is that??

The beach was nameless back in the '70s, until Alona Alegre a Filipino actress shoot a movie on the shoreline of this beach. Alona Alegre is the daughter of comedian-actor Lou Salvador and LVN actress Inday Jalandoni. She was the younger sister of fellow actor Lou Salvador Jr. and the older sister of Phillip Salvador. She was friendly and always put a smile on the locals that captivated their hearts by her charm. With such a lovely attitude and behavior her name, Alona leaves a mark to the locals of the place that even after filming ended locals still remembered the place as "the beach where Alona shoot her feature film" (Yung pinag-shootingan ni Alona). As time passed by and to make the name short they named it Alona Beach, thus it is what we called nowadays.

Few meters from the shoreline of Alona beach are bar and restos for locals and tourists alike. The nightlife here is alive yet not as wild and noisy as that of Boracay. Restos offers different cuisines from Italian, American, French, Swiss and of course or local delicacies.

There are also a lot of accommodations along the shoreline that offers sea view and will not disappoint. From 5 stars to low budget accommodations all available in Alona beach.

When Boracay in Aklan temporarily closed for rehabilitation this is one of the beaches in Panglao where tourists flocked for summer vacay. Indeed the place is not that crowded and commercialized.

Let me share you some of my captured moments in video and in my camera 😊

Travel_Dumaluan Beach

White fine sand with a wide and long shoreline is what makes Dumaluan Beach a must when you visit Panglao Island Bohol.

When Boracay was closed for almost a year tourists flocked Panglao Island for a summer vacay get-away. Dumaluan Beach is just of the many beaches of Panglao that offers a beach like Boracay in Bohol.

I must say that I did have a fun time here rolling in the sands of Dumaluan, seating and walking along the shorelines barefoot as I wanted to feel those fine white powdery sand under my feet and my suntanned skinned for the day. Plus its water was clear you could even see white sand with starfish lying on the seabed.

Dumaluan Beach does not disappoint and indeed will give you such good experiences and memories to keep when you left.

Travel_Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge

Sipatan Hanging Bridge is another destination that you could see in Bohol.

This hanging bridge is made out of bamboo woven together in slats and cable wires. It looks so fragile yet it is strong enough to hold numbers of passersby all together in one crossing. Your every step makes the bridge bounce up and down thus giving my kids more excitement and a little bit scary for me ha ha ha 😂😂😂.

This bridge is used to connect one barangay to another by crossing the lovely crystal emerald green water of Sipatan River. They made another bridge to lessen the foot traffic and making it a one-way journey system- crossing the other and returning on the other bridge.

Please visit my YouTube Channel 😊 iStar-Tayiray23

The span of Sipatan Bridge is about 40 meters above the Sipatan River. The original purpose of this bridge is to help local residents to transport their farm produce and livestock products across the river. As of this day, it is still used by local residents for easy access to the other side of the river.

You can found souvenir shops on the other side of the bridge, selling local products and delicacies that you could take home to your loved ones.

Include this on your trip when you visited Bohol.

Little Facts:

The Sevilla Twin hanging bridge links Sitio Sipatan of Barangay Ewon and Sitio Llawod of Barangay Lobgob of the panoramic inland town of Sevilla, Bohol. It is 36 kilometers away from the city of Tagbilaran and has been a favorite stop for tourists on their way to the amazing Chocolate Hills of Carmen, Bohol.

The bridge is about 40 meters long and has been traditionally made of bamboo slats. While there are quite a few similar structures in Bohol, it is a unique blend of natural sceneries, a showcase of ingenious native handicrafts across the river and the warmth of Sevillahanon hospitality has captured the hearts and imagination of a growing number of visitors, both foreign and domestic.

Built sometime after World War II, the hanging's bridge's original purpose is to help the local residents transport their farm produce and livestock products across the Sevilla River. Nobody really expected it to become the fun tourist attraction that it is nowadays. Today, the original rope suspension has been replaced with steel cables, reinforcing the safety and stability of the structure. Its traditional deck of intricately woven bamboo slats, however, is preserved and continues to welcome pedestrians with playful rhythmic bounce and sway upon each step.

At the other end of the bridge is a small riverside clearing that host several handicrafts stores a refreshments booths where the visitor can buy native product ranging from local fruits and homemade delicacies to creatively crafted souvenir items.

Sevilla Twin Hanging Bridge is one stopover you'll certainly relish to experience again.

Travel_Hinagdanan Cave

A must when you visited Bohol.

However, this is not usually included in the tours being offered since this is out of the way with other Bohol Itineraries. For Pangalao Tours, I believed they included visiting this place which is for me is a must-see.

Hinagdanan Cave is just one of the many caves Bohol offers ready for your next adventure. We went here in the morning where the sun started smiling in the deep sleepy blue skies of January 2020. We registered in the office a few steps away from the cave entrance.

Entrance Fee: Php 50.00
Bathing Fee: Php 75.00
Parking Fee: Php 15.00

After paying what is due we headed off to the cave. Surprised and not expecting that the cave was underground. We went down the small opening which caters to one individual at a time.

Please visit my YouTube Channel😉 iStar-Tayiray23

Why Hinagdanan? Simply because they put hagdan- Ladder to reach the area. Today, there are already stone stairs that lead to the inside of the cave. Stalactites and stalagmites were present inside the cave and what I love most inside is the pool in the middle that has crystal clear emerald green water. Per Manong Ramil, the water has an inlet from the sea thus bringing in saltwater while in the middle spring of freshwater coming underneath combined together. The water is not salty and not that cold and indeed very good for a swim.

The light coming from the top of the cave gave a dreamy fantasy effect and indeed very very nice for a photo shoot. The entire cave is an IG-worthy place. Yeah, like my heart is jumping for joy when I started to roll my eyes inside the cave looking for an angle where I could snap a photo.

By the way, you are required to have a tour guide going down the cave, and mind you these tour guides were good photographers. They exactly know where the good lighting is inside the cave. I took several pictures and let me share them with you.

A little bit of History

In the 16th century, Bingag was covered by thick vegetation. The people came to live and developed the land. One day while the owner of this land was cleaning the area for farming, he discovered two adjacent holes, noticeable only when some decayed trunks were removed. He tried to determine its depth by throwing a stone down and was surprised to hear a splash.

The present entrance was discovered later when a tree died, decayed, and was found out connected to the two original holes. Later on, a ladder was made in order for someone to get down inside without having difficulties. The ladder in the dialects is "Hagdan" so the cave came to be known as Hinagdanan Cave.

Meanwhile, the early inhabitants used this cave as a source of water for drinking, washing, and bathing.

Local Folklore of Hinagdanan Cave

In olden times, the early settlers in this place were privileged to borrow utensils from the "People" who inhabited the cave. Aside from using the water from it for drinking, washing, and bathing, they could always borrow plates, pots, gongs, and other kitchen stuff needed every time they wanted to celebrate specials occasions. But the practice has to end when a drunken man vomited on one of the borrowed gongs. Thus the behavior was not accepted when the gongs were returned and even the neighborly relation was severed, still, these "People" made their presence known every now and then to their chosen few.

Metal handrails were placed to secure visitors from slipping and falling in the pool.
