Goto Believe Mandaluyong

Friday is devoted to my sibs/kiddos bonding.

We hang out and just spend time catching up with each other's lives as we do not live anymore on one roof. My sissy Shine suggested trying a new foodie in Mandaluyong City known for its sumptuous Goto/porridge serving. So, in the middle of Manila's sleeping hour, we drove through EDSA and were shocked that the traffic was just like any 7 PM rush hour jam. Oh, wow! traffic in Manila is really crazy. Good thing we lived somewhere in the south where traffic is moderate during this time of the night.

GOTO Believe Murals

So, we came to this place called GOTO Believe, and indeed I do have high expectations as what I saw online. So the place is inside a neighborhood and from a makeshift garage to an eatery open 24 hours. The place is kind of small yet, well-lit and comfy. The menus do not disappoint as well as the prices- indeed worth the travel and the wait.

The Goto was satisfying and made my palate enjoy the entire bowl of what I ordered Goto Infierno- it's actually the spicy version of their goto and it does make wonder in my taste buds. Yum is all I can say.

They have so many options and toppings that you could choose from. All were Pinoy street foods that we indeed loved as we grew up. I highly recommend the place and include their very menu for those who wish to try. Very affordable, satisfying, and good for those who want to try something new out from our ordinary daily lugaw.

OMG! Oh My GOTO- comes with 10 toppings Php 319.00 good for 3-4 pax

Tokwat Baboy Php 135.00

Chicharong Bulaklak Php 50.00

OMG! Oh My Goto

GOTO Infierno! Spicy Goto to try :) Php 65.00

Pork 🥩 Steak | Bistek Tagalog

Pinoy Pork Steak, also known as "Bistek Tagalog," is a classic Filipino dish that combines the flavors of savory and tangy in one delicious meal. It's a simple yet flavorful recipe that showcases the unique taste of Filipino cuisine.

Traditionally, Pinoy Pork Steak is made using pork shoulder or pork belly sliced into thin pieces. The meat is marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, calamansi juice (or lemon juice), garlic, and pepper, infusing it with rich flavors. The marinade gives the pork a tangy and slightly salty taste, which is then balanced by cooking it with onions.

To cook Pinoy Pork Steak, the marinated pork is seared in a hot pan until browned on both sides. Sliced onions are then added along with the marinade to simmer until the pork is tender and the flavors blend together. The dish is usually served with steamed rice, and the sauce from the pan is drizzled over the meat for added flavor.

Pinoy Pork Steak is a popular choice for family gatherings and special occasions. It’s loved for its simplicity, affordability, and delicious taste. Some variations may include adding vegetables like bell peppers and carrots to enhance the dish with additional colors and textures.

Whether you're a fan of Filipino cuisine or looking to try something new, Pinoy Pork Steak is definitely worth a try. It's robust flavors and tender pork make it a delightful and satisfying meal that both locals and foreigners enjoy.

How to cook Pinoy Pork Steak, also known as "Bistek Tagalog?

Preparing Pinoy Pork Steak, or Bistek Tagalog, is a straightforward process. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Ingredients:
- 1 pound of pork shoulder or pork belly, sliced into thin pieces
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup calamansi juice (or lemon juice if calamansi is not available)
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- Cooking oil, for searing

Instructions:
1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, calamansi juice (or lemon juice), minced garlic, and ground black pepper. Mix them well to create the marinade.

2. Place the pork slices in the marinade, ensuring that each piece is coated evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour. For deeper flavors, you can marinate it for a longer period, even overnight in the refrigerator.

3. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add some cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, carefully sear the marinated pork slices until they turn brown and develop a caramelized crust. Do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, which may prevent proper browning. Set aside the seared pork slices.

4. In the same pan, sauté the sliced onions until they become translucent and slightly caramelized. You can use the same oil used for searing the pork, but you may add more oil if needed.

5. Pour the remaining marinade into the pan with the onions. Bring it to a simmer and let it cook for a few minutes to reduce the liquid and intensify the flavors.

6. Add the seared pork slices back into the pan, making sure to coat them with the sauce. Allow them to simmer in the sauce for about 10-15 minutes, or until the pork is tender and fully cooked.

7. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning according to your preference. You can add more soy sauce or calamansi juice if desired.

8. Once the pork is tender and the flavors have melded together, remove the pan from heat. You can choose to serve the Pinoy Pork Steak as it is or add some garnishments like chopped green onions or fried garlic for extra flavor and presentation.

9. Serve the Pinoy Pork Steak hot with steamed rice. You can drizzle some of the sauce from the pan over the pork slices and rice for added flavor.

Enjoy your homemade Pinoy Pork Steak or Bistek Tagalog!

Brows Microblading

What is Microblading?

Microblading is also known as Eyebrow Embroidery, it is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and considered semi-permanent. Microblading typically lasts anywhere from 1 to 3 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra-fine needles and each hair is gently etched into the skin giving an incredibly natural and realistic look.

How does it take?

For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2.5-3 hours. During this session, the brow technician will shape and style the client's brows for client approval. Once the client is satisfied with the choices we begin the procedure. The client needs a follow-up visit to have any minor necessary touch-ups. The second Microblading session takes place after 4 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1.5-2 hours to complete.

How long does it take to heal?

The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and the color will appear very dark. This is normal. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. The eyebrows will continue to be dark and scab in the following days. Do not pick the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the micro-bladed area.

The eyebrows will lighten up in color as they heal. It takes approximately about 28 days for the color to fully set in. You'll notice the color is very light right after two weeks of healing. This is known as milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.

What is the aftercare procedure?

After your procedure, MUST follow the instructions below;

  • Within 2 hours after the procedure, lightly pat dry using cotton pads any lymphatic liquid that may have built up. After 2 hours, gently clean the brows with wet wipes(unscented no alcohol), and using a new cotton bud, re-apply a thin amount of Fougera ointment.
  • Make sure to apply a light layer of Fougera ointment morning and night to brows for at least 7 days. Do not over-apply Fougera Ointment.
  • Do not immerse the brow area in water for 7 days. When showering, make sure to avoid the face area when cleaning or washing your face, make sure to avoid brows and clean around it.
  • Do not put makeup on the brow area for a minimum of 10 days. A Microbladed area is an open wound, using makeup may cause infections.
  • Avoid alcohol aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin your blood for 24hrs.
  • The brow area will feel slightly itchy as it heals and will start to lightly scab over. Do not peel or pick at the scabs as this can affect the outcome and pigmentation.
  • Do not go swimming, tanning, or into saunas for at least 14 days.

Risk and complications?

Ensure that all proper precautions for a safe session by using sterilized equipment, new needles, clean and sanitized environment are most likely to avoid infections and complications.

Highly Recommended ko si, Ms. Era, for this.
Malayo nga lang yung place nya pero sulit naman po talaga yung service.
And talagang dinayo ko sya para dito at happy naman po ako sa result😊💕
Magaan po ang kanyang kamay and maganda at mabilis syang mag-trabaho.
My 2nd session will be on August 16, 2018

Bakit Ako?

Anu bang nakita mo sa akin,
At bakit ako?

Sa dinami-dami nilang dumaan sa iyo,
Pero bakit ako?

Maganda, mas bata, mayaman,
bakit ako?

Ako, na may mapait na nakaraan
bakit ako?

Ako, na iniwan at sinaktan
bakit ako?

Ilang beses man kitang itinaboy
 pero nandyan ka pa din...

Ilang beses kitang binalocked

 sawa mong sinasagot...

Bakit ako?
 na palaging mong sinasagot
na walang dahilan kundi "Mahal kita!"

SM Mall of Asia Bayside

Walking way past these places my photography drive kicked in once again. Sharing some of my shots of the bayside area of SM Mall of Asia. It was a bit rainy when I took these shots and indeed felt so good while taking some snaps.
