📜 A Storied Past

The church's origins trace back to 1618, established by Jesuit missionaries under the patronage of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. Over the centuries, it underwent several reconstructions:​- National Historic Registry of the Philippines

Aguinaldo Shrine

If you were planning to visit a museum or something, this place is a must!!

I recommend this to everyone young and old alike to know our past heritage. This place holds the key maybe not the entire key but part of it. The very essence of our republic and the cries of our countrymen long before our land was declared as a free republic still echo in the walls of this place. Every turn in this place for me provides information about our past. 

LIKES: FREE Entrance, well-lighted and ventilated, well-preserved antiquity in the area, really like the pieces of information posted- it indeed helps to educate visitors, there is a tour guide available for a larger group, well-kept garden, and vegetation.     

DISLIKES: Some areas were closed to the public which made me really so sad, with limited parking space.

Beauty in Decay Kawit, Cavite

Saw this lovely old house near the Aguinaldo Shrine when we passed by the area recently.

Can't help but snap a picture of it.

I don't know but old houses always, always, always have a spot in me. They have this charm that even how dilapidated and rusty and old they are it seems still so lovely to look at for me. It just kept me wondering how such beauty had been left just like that?

If only those broken windows, walls, doors, and hallways could speak and tell the stories of people who used to occupy them. The moments of happiness, sadness, death, and mourning are still memories to treasure.

I commented to a friend "Indeed this is a lovely and I think once a wonderful house.

However, due to time and owners who don't mind at all left this house another "Beauty in Decay".

Maragondon Church

Visited Maragondon Cavite the other day and indeed there are a lot of interesting places worthy of a visit on this side of Cavite.

Boundary arcs will greet you upon entering the municipality of Maragondon Cavite, Vast ricefields have been occupied with newly built subdivisions yet the provincial feeling can still be felt when you reach the place.

I particularly visited the  Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church in Spanish: Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción as our starter site visit.

Already been declared by the National Museum and the National Historical Institute as a Historical and Cultural Site.  Maragondon Church is considered one of the oldest churches in the Philippines today.

Built by a Jesuit priest in 1618 at the height of Spanish colonization, Maragondon Church stands still up to this day.
